The Janus Project

AD PACEM SINE VICTORIA

The comments and feedback below on the Janus Project have received from the public.

Cudos to Mr. Davidson and his team. This type of utilization of the world's mass communications machine is long overdue! Ad Pacem Sine Victoria.

Jim Power Jr

I am inspired by this project and support your mission.

Sama Dede Whiteside

I visited your site and love the idea of a N.E.W.S. World Summit!! There are many of us, working in politics, the media, business, the arts, civic organizations and all religions, who recognize one another as working for the same essential ideals and recognize the inter-connectedness of all life. It is now important that we find one another and support one another's projects.

Nancy Rivard

Your project certainly seems timely, and much needed.

Michael Sansonia

If achieved, it could change the planet in a positive way forever. It seems so much more poignant since the events of September 11th.

Al Geary

It is rare that bumping into information on a project moves me as much as learning about the Janus Project just did. Having missed the boat on the first Woodstock and happily settling for the Live Aids and No Nukes of my formative years, merging media, music and global causes seems ideal.

Cali Alpert

This is the most exciting concept and project I have read in my entire career. May the Gods and the Universe be with you.

John Harker

I read your Janus Project. Your project sounds fascinating and is extremely well needed, particularly today as we ramp up toward a possible Third World War. As a U.S. citizen who has lived abroad, I believe Americans in particular need an education about how the rest of the world lives and why.

Dianne Garyantes

I'm writing to you because I just read about your fascinating project. It's a wonderful idea, extremely ambitious and long overdue.

Jay Schlossberg

I am quite impressed with your project in view of what happened here in New York.

Perry Cooper

I think that is a great project and you need to help people in thinking about more peaceful ways.

Fatima

What a project! To initiate a shift in human consciousness! Will the next human evolutionary leap take place at an intellectual/emotional level?

To move people you have to reach out and touch them! As you have identified, technology may now provide us with the ability to do this! As people are provided with information hopefully ignorance will be replaced with informed opinions.

Cameron Jenkinson

After reviewing very briefly the scope of the Janus Project, through the material available here at virgate.net, I am moved to learn more and to evaluate what contribution I might make to the effort. Never, after the events of (9/11/01), have I seen or heard something, which makes as much sense to the global human mind, heart and soul in all of its diversity -- as this does.

Martin McKowen

I can't tell you how excited I am. The scope of this exactly what's needed. It seems apparent how much thoughtfulness, caring and planning have gone into this. We have never needed it more than at this moment. It feels to me not only necessary, but essential and guided.

Ruth Strassburg

Religions are matters that people take seriously. You must convince them a new era, a new event extremely important will take place and the world will change from that moment making a kind of new house for all religions of the world, marching together, eating together, singing together, independently of the name of the religion, enriching each one the other and looking for a common salvation, for a new destination festival. FESTIVAL. SPIRIT FESTIVAL.

Jose Maria

I truly believe that herein lies the solution to much of the pain and suffering in this world.

Melanie Dodon NY

The fruition of time has arrived that brings to my attention your organization in hopes that we may bring enlightment to the World. The universality of every religion must be made known to what is generically human in us all - Love and Peace. Janus can be that platform for which a great peace initiative can be launched.

Edward Lewis Jr

The program has a great deal of merit. It will be widely accepted by the general public and become a successful venue to educate and inform the people, but only if it's done right.

Remember one part of the project deals with politicians in a political arena. If the Chinese Government comes on and tells the world they have cleaned up all, human rights violations and they have not then, there's a credibility issue at stake here, especially for Janus.

Showcasing entertainment on a world stage will be the premier event, of the event. Stars from all around the world gathered for the program will generate a, "media feeding frenzy."

Also the ability to understand religions beliefs could answer, age old questions, which plague our world today. Viewers could better understand cultures and religious convictions and boundaries imposed by societies.

Wayne Wiggins

In The Horizontal Society the point is made that at this time in human history because of the global nature of media communications it is possible for human beings anywhere on the planet to be aware of the activities, desires and issues big and small effecting individuals and groups on a daily basis. We receive this information ad hoc and sporadically. As a result we are unaware of just how connected we are and the perceived differences among us mere machinations of culture.

It is to the benefit to the political elites that run the nations of the world to try to maintain heighten levels of scepticism born of a fear that national sovereignty is threatened by "one world" movements and programs. This attitude is short-sighted, dead wrong and the greatest obstacle to continued human development. And if we as a species are to develop the full potential of the human heart we much seek to breakdown all barriers to greater understanding and cooperation. Coordinated and sustained "global" projects of this nature must be developed and sustained.

Walter Harris

The Janus Project shows:
Vision. It is a forward thinker with a perfect sense of timing to introduce a new and dynamic approach to the question, "how then should we live?" in the new millennium.

Innovation in its approach to becoming the logical and the most effective catalyst for an intellectual and institutional transformation in mankind's incessant search for peace!

Strong faith and understanding in the importance of "individual involvement" in an already shrunk "global village", and its citizen's efforts to attain and retain peace within themselves and with one another.

Commitment to "inclusiveness" by engaging the entire population of this world, with an unrelenting and unstoppable commitment to respecting all races, nationalities, religions and political persuasions, searching for common ground and celebrating the many differences.

Vision for an "earth-shattering" paradigm shift, a new foundation for co-existence, cooperation and contribution by adopting the new approach, "Towards Peace Without Victory".

It understands the value placed by Sovereign Nations to gain legitimacy and a desire for their nations to be recognized as proactive, forward thinking, humanitarian, multinational trading partners and seeking positive internal PR.

It understands the role of "cultural advocates" and "change agents", of the new millennium, the entertainers and the artists. Understands that this group can "inspire", has the desire to be part of a "noble cause" and has the need to be on the world stage showcasing their talent.

It recognizes the importance of man's desire to have faith in a Supreme Being, a higher power, and from time immemorial mankind has sought ways to find answers to three basic questions, "Who am I?" "Where did I come from?" and "Where do I go from here?"

It understands the important role of the "forth estate" [Media] and its need to gain global legitimacy and increased ratings.

It understands that Multinational Corporations are "image conscious" and have the desire to contribute to make their world a better place in addition to being successful in product delivery and with profiteering.

It has long term vision to keep the "Summit" open and operational until peace can be secured using an approach that is acceptable to all participants.

Recognizes that the mankind is ready for such an approach, as there is continued disenchantment with the failure of approaches through institutions.

It understands the two underlying motivations and the needs of every human being, the need "to be loved" and the need to "feel significant" [what I am, do and say make a difference] in designing the new approach for the new millennium.

The event like all similar large scale events on TV will have a short lived impact if not followed up by smaller local events that will keep the idea alive till the next event. We should make it like football with local and regional tournaments in between the world cup, so that people are psyched up till the next event. An event like this would have little impact if there aren't concrete success stories. That's what we need to concentrate on. Concrete success stories.

We talk of accomplishments and ask leaders to make resolutions and concessions during their speeches.

Sarino Tesandori

My experience with and my knowledge of "grass-root" individuals worldwide have shown me that there is an extraordinary interest and human desire to participate in real world affairs.

The political, even non-political, motivations of average people that want to assist and make a different are there. The long-term social impact is The forecast is Unbelievable, a most favourable perception, if patience is practiced and implementation of the business plan is clearly followed. A long-term relationship built on trust, respect and successful results is desired.

Michael Travis

In the democratic sense of representing the will of the majority, the contribution to the project from the various sectors of society will foster a positive long term social impact that should prevail as a priority in spite of changes both economic and political.

Given that the 'stated mission' taps some of the deepest emotions of the human spirit, the long term impact will prevail beyond the satisfaction of mankind's basic survival instincts.

Mario Wille

I feel that right now the people want to participate more than never before in real world affairs because it's like the world leaders are able to do the right things to improve the situations.

Especially in countries with major problems like in the third world.

The political world has to have many motivations to assist, and the world peace it's a good one.

Always after an act of solidarity the human being feels good with themselves so I think that the social impact after the global event will be floating in the air for many time and the people will want to do something to be in peace and for the world peace.

Maria Farina

The N.E.W.S. World Summit has to become a personal and governmental appointment beyond a biennial international TV event.

Beatriz Becerra Basterrechea

Most world citizens would like to have a voice. The Janus Project will give the human race an "outlet" and a "forum" to express themselves.

If the world's citizens were given a chance to voice their opinion and actually believed they would be heard, there would be more participation and less apathy.

Hopefully, with the proper management and communication of the "message", the Janus Project will become the world's plan.

One of the Janus' Projects legacy should be one of post event follow-up. Possibly, a once a decade event to re-focus the "energy".

Bart Whitaker

The creation of global networks, using satellites, cable and normal TV channels is the ideal means for influencing the thinking of people, both in good and bad ways. The idea of the NEWS World Summit, is a very good example for using the global TV access. This event, well thought-out, correctly organized and well funded, will make a tremendous impact by taking advantage of the already existing global communication means, and by incorporating the new media that will become available, like broadband web. This of course will require careful tailoring of the to be generated programs, to fit not only the cultural preferences of each country or region, but also to the type of media used.

The organization of the Sydney Olympic games can be used as an example of good "global event for TV", also the to be held "Rock in Rio For a Better World" festival to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where, in addition to the world-wide internet and TV transmissions of the events to over 1 billion persons is planed, are examples to be studied for their positive points and flaws.

In my perception it should be feasible to develop an attractive (especially to young people) TV program, which will include the peace message, and at the same time be commercially viable, as far a advertising revenues are concerned.

There are now innumerous other global TV events, mostly transmitting sport events, like soccer, but there are also religious transmissions and social events, like the Oscar and Grammy awards. All these are however just transmissions of events that take place in one place only and cater to a public which is particularly interested in that event. In our case the program has to be created and is generated in many different places and transmitted to the whole World.

This is a much more challenging proposition, but a feasible one. It will however require the assembly of top talent on several disciplines and be very well funded, especially at front-end.

Philippe Tasso de Saxe-Coburgo

If properly planned/organized/carried out will bring about/cause a worldwide/renewed sense of belonging and involvement by large groups which are made up by adverse interests, goals, objectives and agenda. In the end, all of the aforesaid parties must recognize the inevitable fact of life of the 21st century which is this: share this planet peacefully - or risk loosing it altogether.

Hans John Bergman

A united global front to improving the standards and dignity of humanity.

Alexis Holloway

I have just read through your website and find this to be what looks like an amazing project.

Helena Joyce

It is a project one would do well to support.

Gene Lambert

A very impressive project!

Nan

Congratulations on a most exciting project. The news of the world is fed to us Americans in such a narrow container that it is terribly difficult for people to appreciate what our world really looks like. We applaud your efforts to advance world media in a significant way. I simply wish you infinite success in the beautiful contribution you are making to peace on Earth.

Deborah Moldow

I've just taken a quick look at your website and the initiative seems of great benefit to mankind at this critical moment.
